HSC Engineering
General News
During the HSC Engineering course, students investigate the field of aeronautical engineering. Students are required to complete an engineering report based on a balsa wood glider. The first step was to test a class design produced through the use of specialised software. Students then used this information to make design modifications in order to build and test their glider. The engineering report uses all gathered information to make recommendations for optimal glider design.
This year saw a spectacular rapid unscheduled disassembly of a gilder, mid-flight due to an unforeseen collision with a stationary water diversion fixture. That is, the glider hit the gutter of the roof and broke into lots of pieces.
