Lions Club Youth of the Year Success
General News
Our Year 12’s continue to see success at the National Lions Youth of the Year (YOTY) program. This program challenges students on their leadership skills, general knowledge, thinking under pressure, interview skills, community and school involvement and successes.
Further to our College Captain Emily’s win at Castle Hill, Erica and Thomas won all four categories at their district competitions at Toongabbie and Baulkham Hills Lions Club and progressed to the Hills Zone finals last Sunday. Our Academic Success Prefect Thomas, spoke about using failures as building blocks of success in his speech, while House Captain Erica, spoke about how breaking a problem down into bite sizes helped her fight fires that threatened her home last November. Erica won at Zone and will represent the College at the Sydney Regional YOTY finals later this month. College Captain Corbin spoke passionately about the life lessons he learnt from Scouting at West Pennant Hills/ Cherrybrook YOTY finals. He progresses to the Epping Zone YOTY finals this Friday.
Mrs Heather Kroll, Master-in-Charge of Public Speaking, says that students undertaking the challenge of this competition work incredibly hard, putting in 20-30 plus hours of preparation. She is “very impressed with the high calibre and commitment of these students.”
Please join us in congratulating these fine ambassadors for our College.
